The series follows Angelika, an exotic dancer in the New York City club scene who is unwittingly turned into a vampire. As she struggles to understand her new nature, she discovers a violent underground Vampire War raging in the streets and subway tunnels of NYC. She gradually realizes she is central to an ancient prophecy known as “The Vampire Verses.”
Forte created the series in 1994. It was first published in 1995 by CFD Productions (the company formerly known as Cry for Dawn). Later reprints and additional material appeared through Asylum Press (Forte’s own publishing imprint, which he founded around 1999).
